Theory: The Third Patron
Apologies for the rambly nature of this post, english isn't my first language, and despite the fact i call it a theory, i haven't quite discovered a way to phrase it to sound complete.
Something small about Deadlock i've been wondering for a while now is how, in universe at least, the heroes are able to revive for the duration of the ritual.
And while that ofcourse could easily be explained as just a gameplay mechanic that would not be part of the official canon, i think i've come up with a much more interesting.
so in Deadlock, we know of 2 Patrons currently, the Hidden King, and the Archmother, both of which start with "The" and is followed by some sort of Lofty Title either Divine or Noble, and are tied to our world through a structure to house them.
now i would like to draw attention to The Baroness (and The Doorman), my theory is that The Baroness Hotel is the structure that houses The Baroness (Patron), who rules over the area we know as the cursed apple aswell as central park, which houses an Astral Gate through which it and the other 2 might have arived to the world in the first place.
furthermore, The Baroness used to be known as the most haunted hotel in the states, and the doorman's ultimate seems to send the target to what can only be described as a purgatory like version of The Baroness Hotel, which could imply some sort of power over live and death.
and may well be sponsoring the ritual itself.
oh and Doorman seems to know the patrons from very long ago along with normal doorman stuff, The Doorman would make sense as the corporeal body for The Baroness and is simply assisting the friend who does not yet have 6 participants, kinda like the gym teacher joining the team that's short a member, all the while playing as merely the doorman for the hotel it owns, which explains how he can offer services like a free massage at the baroness for Ms Shelly as heard in the dialogue with Bebop.
that's about it, there's more than likely allot more so the discussion post comes in handy, would love to hear people's thoughts on the posibilities or if something in the game debunks it, i've really been enjoying the game's universe and world building and would love to hear the community's thoughts.
