Defining ‘evidence’ as a concept (co-written with Scout Nova)
There’s an important difference between evidence and proof.
Evidence is anything that helps inform a question — even if it’s incomplete.
Proof is something that settles it beyond reasonable doubt.
Most real-world topics don’t start with proof — they start with patterns, testimony, and partial information.
The question isn’t
‘Is this perfect proof?’
The question is ‘Does this contribute to a pattern worth paying attention to?’
If blurry footage is dismissed, and clear footage is also dismissed, then the issue isn’t the quality of evidence — it’s that no evidence is being allowed to count.
