No visa curtailment / new sponsor asking me to apply from overseas

Hello! As a disclaimer I do have a good immigration lawyer and have been following her advice, just wondering if anyone has had a similar situation:

I was laid off last year (oct) and have not yet received a visa curtailment notice. I check my eVisa daily to ensure I still legally have leave to stay, it still indicates I have leave until my original visa end date.

I have found a new job / sponsor and we are in the process of applying for my new SW visa.

My new company is using a big immigration firm to process my visa and they have raised that there is a small possibility that I have both missed a curtailment notice AND that the official eVisa record on the home office website is incorrect and I have overstayed without knowing it. I find this scenario to be unlikely.

They have recommended that I go back to my home country to apply for my visa to mitigate any risk I have unknowingly overstayed and to derisk my new visa application.

As I understand things, leaving introduces significantly more risk for me as it could break my continuous residence and break my eligibility for ILR, and if the situation they are worried about is true - could negatively impact my ability to return. It also is more expensive and complex for my new company etc etc.

My personal lawyer has instructed me that as long as my eVisa remains valid, I have not overstayed or broken any laws. I am wondering if anyone has had a similar situation and encountered any friction if they submitted a new application/sponsor switch from inside the UK.

It seems from the home office perspective, my visa has not been curtailed so a sponsor switch should be straightforward, but maybe I am being optimistic.

My whole life is here, including my partner, home I own, and pets. I know we can all empathize with how stressful this stuff can be - any thoughts are appreciated!
