India, Hyderabad: B1/B2 Visa rejected
I had my visa interview a few days back and it did not go well at all. I read through the reddit posts and made to prepare my answers so that I can clearly indicate my travel purpose (business meetings).
My profile:
Mid 20s, female, single, in a tech job, in a US based major corporation, previous travel history to UK, had company letter.
Interview:
VO: Can you state your name?
Me: *states my name, designation and company name*
VO: What is the purpose of your travel?
Me: I need to attend some important business meetings and workshops, and also..
VO interrupts: Where will you be traveling to?
Me: New York
VO: How many days will you stay there?
Me: One week
VO: and why are you needed there?
Me: *explains that there are some important discussions regarding expanding our team in India and also to present some of our work*
VO: which department is this?
Me: tells the department
VO: that's not the HR department then?
Me: no, but we still need to be part of discussions about expansion..
VO interrupts again: who will sponsor the trip?
Me: it's company sponsored, here's a letter from my company *tries to hand her but she says no thanks*
VO: and your trip to UK was for?
Me: to visit the country
VO: i'm refusing your visa today, this paper explains it *hands the blue paper*
The worst part, the reason is stated as 214b, whereas there was no where indicated in my answer that I was planning to overstay.
What went wrong here? I want to reapply but what are my chances and how should I proceed to ensure I'm not met with the same fate again?
