BPI Phishing scam
Earlier today a call came from a private number 09319131296, claiming to be an agent from BPI. I observed that the agent is well spoken but in some instances stuttering like she seems to be reading a script. She bombarded me with questions, she asked if i am Mr. X and I confirmed yes, she asked if my address was correct, she asked if the card was delivered via a courier, she asked and confirmed what my credit limit was, she asked if i already activated my CC from the bank, I confirmed yes. She asked how much I already spent out of the whole credit limit, and what my credit limit was. She also asked if I'm interested in a specific card promo. Now she is offering a gift cheque worth 5000 php together with freebies (umbrella and bag) and together with that they will increase my credit limit, but here is the twist, it needs to be delivered via Grab and in order for it to be delivered you need to pay them 50php and for that to push through they needed an OTP, once the OTP was requested and sent they will ask for it, when i received and read the OTP through the official number of BPI i dropped the call and blocked the number.
My CC was never delivered to my address and was stuck in a delivery hub for 2 weeks then I emailed and requested it to be delivered at a BPI branch near me. I am wondering how this kind of person got access to my personal data that was supposed to be private? and what is BPI doing?
