I feel like missed out on TIFF last year. And am worried it won't be the same this year.
I tried to TIFF go last year, but couldn't make it but am definitely going to make an effort to attend this year. I just feel like I missed out on all the really cool foreign language films last year. Sirāt in particular which i know sounded great in a theater got nominated for best sound at the oscars and yet itbstill hasn't played in a theater with decent near what so ever. Will that happen again this year will there be the same Vareity of really cool foreign language films, including one that gets nominated for best sound at the Oscar's for using sound in a way weve nevre really heard before. Ans frrom the same variety of places like Norway and South Korea and Moroco and Brazil and Iran and so on, with the same variety of genre like dramas and thrillers and dark comedy and so on. And all in strong contention for best picture or best forigen film at the Oscars. Will we still get that same situation at this years TIFF? Maybe not those exact same countries but same variety same continents at least. Also a film like Testiment of Ann Lee, I was bummed I couldn't see it 70mm will there be another cool 70mm film like that... other than Digger posibly? Something a little less mainstream but just as good of a movie as Testikent of Ann Lee? What about another musical that's really really good and big screen worthy like a Better Man? (I know that was 2024).
