I found it abandoned on the street for just €4—weathered, cracked, and seemingly reaching the end of its line.

But where others saw junk, I saw a legacy waiting to be reclaimed. I decided then and there to restore this piece to the glorious era it once inhabited.

The journey began by stripping it down to its core. To address the deep crack in the body, I first reinforced it with wood glue for structural integrity. Instead of hiding the scar with standard filler, I chose to trace it with gold pigment, embracing its history with a touch of mystery—a nod to the Japanese art of Kintsugi.

As soon as I began sanding the wood, the air filled with an unmistakable, intoxicating aroma: the deep, soulful scent of Jacarandá (Brazilian Rosewood). It was a confirmation that I was working with one of the most precious materials in the world.

To complement the rich wood, I meticulously polished the brass fittings, leaving just enough patina to maintain a sense of nostalgic soul. I replaced the old electrical components with a vintage-style socket featuring a rotary switch and finished the look with a black braided textile cable for a final touch of luxury.

Standing 50cm tall with a 15cm base, this lamp has transitioned from a discarded relic to a stunning statement piece. It isn’t just restored; it’s reborn.
