Lifelong congestion in the back of my sinuses
20Afab (they/them). 5 ft even, between 110 and 130 LBS, but I’ve never kept track. I’m a stoner and most often partake through carts and vapes, but this has been around since long before I started. I also take adderall daily for my ADHD and use hydroxizine and clododine every night to help me sleep—all prescribed by my therapist
I’ve always had this noticeable presence in the back of my sinuses, either right above my throat or in the space above my soft pallet (I think), closer to the back of my head than the front. I thought it was just normal, but I’m not sure anymore.
A friend of mine who got surgery for a misaligned septum a while back told me I should get it looked at because it sounded similar to her experience pre-surgery. Unlike her though, I’ve never had much issue breathing or smelling like she used to, it’s just an annoying presence. Kind of a pressure I guess? It’s always just felt like a mass of mucus, but I’m assuming it isn’t actually that.
Is there any way for me to clear it out? Blowing my nose doesn’t work because the mass is too far back, and I’ve tried to clear it with pressure from my throat/lungs, but that doesn’t work either. Does it sound like a misaligned septum? I don’t want to get surgery, but knowing if I’ll have to in order to fix it would be nice. Thanks!
