Single event keeps becoming recurring

I have a single event I scheduled and when I checked it, it was labeled as recurring. I don't want it to be recurring. I clicked the box to toggle the switch so it is NOT recurring. Then I hit save. Then it tells me the event is still recurring. Does anybody have any advice? I would rather not make a whole new event.
