Day 5 CT, both my husband & I are finally getting free

feeling better

Yes, on day 5 now cold turkey from 7oh and I’m finally feeling like a new person. I know it’s not over yet, and I’ve relapsed before, but THIS TIME IS IT.

I feel like I’m going to have to get to know the sober me after about 15 years of being high on opiates. Crazy…I have no idea who I am sober.

My husband quit back in November, and bc he’s stage 4 metastatic melanoma to his lungs & brain & going through immunotherapies for 8 years, well…detoxing from 7 oh sent him to the hospital after 3 days in the bed. Anyway, as I’m going through the severe acutes, I’m also having to get him to the hospital, he gets admitted for 3 days..I wish so badly I would’ve just pushed through. But dammit if I didn’t find a couple tabs in my purse sitting in the hospital. I’ll never forget the sheer panic & dread…and the excitement as I found those bastards. One tab…off to the races again. Dammit.

Anyway, I just wanted to share my story. My husband & I ordered tabs online for over a year. $250 a week, then after he quit it went down to $160 a week for myself. Every fucking week. For over a year. Makes me sick. This is the straw breaking my habit now. Seeing the $$ in black & white is my catalyst.

Thanks to everyone who shares here. We all have different stories, yet we all suffer together from this legal poison.

I lost my best friend, my brother, 2 years ago from 20 years alcohol addiction. He was such a beautiful soul. I learned ALOT about addiction/rehab/relapse/soul crushing shit from him. All I know is you MUST decide to quit, and you MUST find support somewhere. Whatever that looks like for you. YOUR SOBER LIFE IS A LIFE WORTH LIVING!!!

Good luck stranger friends, and thanks for sharing your stories.
