Why do passwords even exist anymore?

I just tried to log into my Facebook and I logged in on chrome with my password then I try to login on my phone and it’s saying that I literally don’t have access to log into my account because the password is incorrect??

This is just a tipping point because I’m tired of making a password and then every single time I try to log into something it just sends me a code to my email like it’s obvious that it’s not using the password it’s generating a code and then the code becomes your temporary password like does no one else know this .

What is the point of having a password if it’s not even gonna do anything or it’s not even gonna allow you to access your accounts.

Did all the boomers seriously get their net worth taken away by scammers so now we can’t use basic passwords anymore ? What is this about? I’m just trying to login to play pool online and now I’m blocked from changing my password?

Keep in mind the only reason I’m changing it is so that I can log into my account even though I already know what it is 🤦🤦
