Manual plucking

Is it bad to manually pluck hairs off the shaft? I'm tired of them getting in the way so I decided to start manually plucking them by gripping them near the skin, firmly yanking them away a few times to loosen up the root, then turn it the other way and snap it out of there. Hopefully this doesn't cause them to continuously grow back. I heard that they'll continue to grow back thinner and thinner until they stop
