Are the invasion comics essential for NJO?

I know they’re not essential but are they quite important in being referenced in the subsequent NJO books?

I’m reading through the Thrawn Duology and only have a few things (Union 1-4, JJK TGG, SQ, OF, YJK 1-6) to read before NJO and wondering if they’re at least worth a summary of.

Please no NJO spoilers thank you
