Any experience with conversion of non-EU driving license?

As the title says, I would like to convert my non-EU driving license. Any experience with this?

I'd like to know how long does it take from the appointment at the police station to the test and then to the issuance of the license itself.

Also, I have booked an appointment for the end of March. Should I start looking for driving school now or should I wait until my appointment with the police is done?
