Budget idea -- no more free parking!
So the mayor has given the city and state two options; tax the wealthy or raise property taxes on NYC homeowners.
If we are in need of money, why is no one in the administration considering charging car owners for free storage of their private property on public streets, along with residential parking permits and serious restrictions on out-of-state plates?
How much money could these options conceivably raise for the city’s coffers?
We are still living with the ramifications of the misguided 1960 decision not to charge people for parking on residential streets. It seems a great time to correct this error.
