Tips for modern emo pop punk guitar?

Most things I write sound too post hardcore, too Midwest emo, too skate punk or too empty, and I can’t often get that emo pop punk feel I’m going for.

I want to write stuff that sounds like bands like Youth Fountain, Real Friends and Knuckle Puck. Both leads and rhythm.
