GR20 footwear

Question

Hey there!

I am going to attempt the GR20 in 15 days starting in late May. For the last week or so, I have been looking about what footwear to buy.

I have pretty much stopped my choice on a "mid" boot.

I do not think I need the support of a high boot for my ankle considering the amount of weight it adds.

However, I do not think trail runners would be art considering I am attempting the trail in the beginning of the season, and in semi-autonomy (max 4-5 days of food, but always carrying my tent, sleeping bag, etc).

With full water, I think my bag will stay between 14-16 kg (but probably less to be honest). **Which brings another question; is 4L of water too much per day? Probably, right? 3L should be more than enough, right?**

Therefore, as I have got to know based on some research, trail runners would be stupid with this amount of weight, ecen though their breathability is really appreciable, compared to those goretex boots...

But those are the reasons why I have stopped my choice on mid boots.

First of all, is this a good reasoning?

Second of all, (considering I live in Canada), do any of you have some mid boots to recommend me? I have pretty much stopped my choice on the La Sportiva TX hike mid GTX light trail shoes, as they seem to check most of the boxes for my use case. Am I completely mistaken? Would those be a good choice for me for the GR20?

Thanks for reading me and sharing any tips if you have gotten any,

Best regards.

By the way, I have not tried them yet in the store. The feeling while trying them will of course be a deal breaker. If I do not like them, any other suggestions?
