Have I read this right?

So, I (M24) have been on a bit of a personal journey in the last 7/8 months. I came out of a bad situation where a girl had essentially kept me on retainer for 6 months, learnt that she had been sleeping with my friend and I think trying to basically break me down through constant gaslighting and carrot/stick behaviour for her to control me easier. She failed, I got away from her. Good good. Every day without her is a blessing and I'm finally living for myself.

After getting her out of my life I decided the obvious was to give it a break for a while. I had a bit of a thing with somebody else but an in person meet up left a lot to be desired from both sides. Basically it just wasn't meant to be. Ok, moving on.

Now, here I am and I meet a girl (F21) during a lecture. She had always been in the background, more often than not we hardly spoke. I've tried to become more confident with myself and have started talking more. I have found that In actually quite funny at times which is cool. She would laugh at what I said, then ignore me for the duration of our session. I just shrugged and moved on. Until, I realised something. It felt like she was trying to make sure that I saw her reacting to what I was saying. She'd stare directly at me and laugh when I was speaking. So, I developed a bit of a hunch.

In my bravest moment for a while, I sat down next to where she usually sat. I swear I saw her freeze when she entered the room. Sort of double take, like "is he seriously sitting there?" Sort of thing. She sits down next to me and it's awkward for a bit. But a good awkward, like two people feeling out the vibe kind of awkward.

The first thing I noticed was that she applied lip gloss. I looked at the lecturer and the whiteboard, turned my head back and her lips were shiny. I thought little of it.

She continues to laugh at a lot of what I'm saying. We have our first "nice" moment when the lecturer made an impromptu reference to something we'd discussed. I giggled and saw her giggling too.

Now, here's what has potentially driven me a little mad about her. A good mad haha. So, I look up to see her staring at me. She had her hands on her cheeks and she was just... staring. She gave me a little smile, I responded the same and said "Hey" and we spent a couple moments in silence just staring at each other. It was nice, and I started to feel a lot in that moment. A lot.

Eventually what we were doing in the lecture had us separated. The lecturer assigned groups and we split up. I look up again and she and a friend are staring at me.

Soon enough, I leave the lecture after everything was all said and done. She didn't come up to me unfortunately, even if her stuff was near where I was stood. That's possibly the only part which makes me think it was just meant to be a nice moment and that's that.

I'm not trying to get in over my head with this. I've done that plenty of times in the past. I also don't want to overthink/interpret wrong any signs and potentially spoil what could be the startings of a nice friendship.

She's not been in this week unfortunately, I was planning to ask for her socials. I didn't ask before as I was mostly trying to figure out what I'd just lived through and whether or not I want to pursue this person. I have decided I want to, so yeah.

That's my story, I hope it was entertaining enough haha.
