Is it worth it to settle a closed credit card?

I had a Best Buy credit card for a few years, but this last year two payments were attempted from the wrong account and got declined for insufficient funds. We made the payments from the correct accounts before they were due so there were never any late payments, but Citi Bank decided to close the account anyway for being high risk. I tried to get the account reopened, but they told me that is impossible. The account currently doesn't have any late payments, but is still accruing interest. We can technically pay off the remaining balance, which is currently just shy of $6k, with our taxes, but money is tight so we would like to save where we can. Is it worth it to try and negotiate that amount to save some money in the short term? What are the impacts of doing that to my credit score? I spoke to their hardships department and they informed me it would be listed as "partially paid" if they were to accept our offer.
