AITAH For not helping my mother sooner?

Hi ,I’m sort of new to posting on Reddit, but I felt like I needed to come here to ask for a brutally honest opinion.

To put it simply, when I was 7 years old, my mother lost her sight after a long period of treatment with the NHS in the UK. The treatment went wrong, and she sued them. It was settled in 2021, when I was around 12 years old. She’s told me, and I’ve known for quite a while, that her eyes aren’t “dead,” so potentially something could be done.

Now I’m 17, and I’ve been living with her and taking care of her, but I never really took the time to properly look into how her sight could possibly be restored. I have a brother who is 32 as well, but he doesn’t live with us, I’m her main carer.

She’s had the money to at least try something for a long time now, but she’s using it to build a house back home instead. It’s only recently that I’ve actually taken proper action to try to help. Before that, I just took her word for it, like a child, believing that some miracle would happen. I could have been trying to do something much earlier.
