2018 Audi Q7 Intake Runner Replacement

Question

Hi all,

I have a 2018 Q7 3.0 with 56K miles on it, live in DC area. I had the check engine light come on several weeks ago and just got around taking it to the mechanic to get a diagnostic with the oil change.

The shop (independent) said that the intake runners were getting stuck closed which was causing the light to come on. Repair cost just above $4K as it requires taking out the supercharger and other components - approx. 10 hours of labor they said.

What's weird is that since we've thawed out a bit in the area from the absolutely freezing temps, the check engine light hasn't come on at all.

So I'm wondering if it could have been the subfreezing temps that could have been keeping it shut closed? Anyway, would love some thoughts / feedback on how critical this is and if I should just wait a few weeks to see if the light even comes back on now that it's a bit warmer.

Thanks!
