Is GW2 Casual/Solo Friendly

for reference, I'd be quitting maplestory to play GW2
I have a bad schedule for party play, I'm more of a solo or go in and see if there is a party available type of gamer.

I've never played GW2, but read a lot about how time away from the game isn't as taxing as other MMOs.

Would GW2 be "okay" for that? For reference, even with giga grinding in maplestory, there's still some bosses I cannot solo even on the lowest difficulty. Eventually I can, but until then the game pretty much only gives me grinding to do. Not much else to do unless I want to play on mule characters (which, peak in benefit).
