I (23M) started dating my roommate (23F) and she can’t get past her trauma. How can I help/deal with it?

Ok yeah dating a roommate isn’t the smartest thing to do, I know. Dont lecture me about that, as I know it already.

That being said, basically we were both in one relationship before. Mine was shorter and hers was much much longer.

She said she might feel saturated after a while when we were starting to be with each other and I said I got it but I didnt think it would come to this.

She basically started being really distant lately and she told me she was a bit saturated. Well, we talked a few days ago and she said she thought she was over her past relationship’s traumas (it wasnt a happy one) but now she’s starting to relive the way she felt in it and she wanted to run away from me. She said she wanted to end things but knew shed change her mind a week later so she didnt know what to do. She said she needs space and the fact that we live together makes her think she has to run away from me but if she thinks about that rationally she knows its because of the way she felt with her ex during the last moments of her relationship.

Even so, she says she cant work it out, has no time for therapy and cant deal with it and if she made a decision in that moment, it would be to end things.

I offered to stand by her through that, and help her in any way I could. Giving her space, the time she needs, etc. without pressuring her. But she says thats incompatible with what her body tells her to do which is run away so she doesn’t know what to do.

I was ready to ask her to be my girlfriend before this. Everything about us was ideal. Great sex, the best in both our lives. Great dynamic. Almost zero fights. We laughed a lot together. Everything was fine.

I don’t know what to, how to help her, or if I should say: “you know what? I deserve someone who wants to be with me”

Im so lost in this
