How long are your chapters?

i’m just curious, for those of you who write long running stories, roughly how long are your entires?

i only started using Ao3 a few weeks ago and have been grinding pretty hard trying to establish a volume of work before slowing down to a more sustainable pace.

i started with short drafts and rewrote them one by one and my word count has exploded. i’m 4 chapters in with 50k words since february 7th 😵‍💫😵‍💫 i see a lot of works in my fandom with 10x my chapter total but a comparable word count.

i personally like chonky chapters but i know putting out ~12,000 words every 3-5 days is definitely not sustainable lol. i’ll probably have to break them up a bit more for my own sanity.

what about yall? about how long does a chapter get before you think “yeah that wraps that up” and click post?
