Full-time job, 3 kids, house, dog. Structured cycling plans just don’t fit
I work full time.
We have a house.
Three small kids.
A dog.
Weekend activities that start early and end late.
I love cycling. I genuinely do. And like most of us here, I want to ride faster and longer. I don’t need to be pro, but I want progress.
The problem is this:
“3 hour Zone 2 every Saturday” sounds great on paper.
In real life? It’s not happening.
Kids have activities. Something breaks at home. Someone gets sick. A birthday pops up. A weekend disappears.
Most training apps assume your week is stable. They assume your long ride happens. They assume you can move sessions around neatly.
My weeks are never neat.
I don’t really know how much time I’ll have until I’m already changed and about to head out the door. Some days it’s 90 minutes. Some days it’s 35. Sometimes it’s unexpectedly more.
So I built something for myself.
A training app that adapts daily based on:
• what I’ve actually done
• the goal I’m working toward
• and the time I realistically have that day
Not what I hoped I’d have on Sunday.
I’m close to releasing it publicly, but before I do, I’d really like a small group of riders in similar situations to test it and tell me honestly if it makes sense or not.
What do you think of this idea?
