once my female friend told me she would rather be the only woman in a group of teen boys than be the only teen girl in a room full of older women and an older man, i feel like a lot of Pakistanis especially the older generation feel like their perspective is the only perspective, what they think is concrete and absolute and they hammer tat fact into their heads so much in their arrogance that they fail to keep up with the world, u must have notices it in ur grandparents if not ur parents, something always bothers them
"aaj kal ki ladkiyan"

"aaj kal ke ladke", but then you pull up the statistics and u see its their generation that glorifies cousin marriage so much, its their generation that beat wives, that burnt a hole in the ozone layer, these things are extrapolated to the major issues of society, and since we are a society that reveres elders so much their perspective is the one that matters, and thus we are always behind the curve, in a country where the publics favorite imran khan said short skirts cause the unspeakable crimes against women, and where the national religious party leader says hes gonna marry pre pubescent children, a personal anecdote would be my mamoo and mami who dont believe in depression and bully their daughter with medically diagnosed depression and beat her because she is causing drama and acting, this caused kidney failure, self harm and suicidal thoughts, as her childhood friend and cousin when i offered support and my mother saw i followed her on insta i was called out for talking to a girl... yet she refuses to call out her brother for abusing a suicidal girl

u can see the same on [r/pakistan](https://www.reddit.com/r/pakistan/) how the older generations make fun of teenagers, even islamabadis and lahoris for being progressive, they think being considerate and forward is insulting, they think that were stupid and disillusioned because we dont bend to their will and repeat their weaknesses

The close mindedness and absolute sterness of older Pakistanis on change
