Fishing on Bayou Teche

I am interested in fishing on the bayou between Breaux Bridge and New Iberia, but I know virtually nothing about the area.

I'm not opposed to renting a boat locally, but I do have a small bass boat.

I appreciate any information you can give me about the advisability of using my own boat, or if that's not a good idea, recommendations for a good place to rent.
