Explain pudding

I am listening to old episodes and someone’s always making pudding. They seem excited about it. Forgive me, I’m American, I have no idea what they’re talking about. Like, I know that pudding exists. But I don’t I understand all these types of puddings they mention. And I don’t understand why they seem to be eating pudding every day.

Then in a recent episode they mentioned pudding. Do you make puddings?!

Over here we don’t eat much pudding. If I hear pudding in the US, I will assume it is the kind pre-packaged that we give to kids or ppl in the hospital. It sounds like they make fun puddings home made. Do you eat or make fun pudding and are we missing out on something tasty?
