Talk me out of an overload based bus for my consumables factory
Hey Folks -- I am workshopping a main base idea and want to get some opinions.
This base will not be used for space elevato rparts, but will be for consumables and building materials for creating my other production facilities, so the demand will not be constant. Having a flat power consumption line is not a goal I strive for.
Bottom floor(s) are material processing. Mostly a bunch of refineries running various pure ingot recipes, wet concrete, etc. I have it set up in a tower fashion, with a sort of central opening/atrium. Raw materials come in through the center, go through the processors, and then output towards the external walls and go into a vertically stacked bus line that essentially circles the floor. Where needed, I would insert a splitter into the bus line and use a lift to take the raw materials up to the next floor for processing into whatever components I need, which will then either go to another processor for more complex parts, or directly into a buffer to dimensional storage bin setup.
It will not work at full efficiency as I am bringing it online, but once fully put together and the material bins are full and dimensional storage is full for the end products, it should basically function as a giant manifold going through a lot of systems? Obviously if I draw down a significant amount of material at a single time it might be slow(er) in filling them all back up, but since it doesn't really need to run at that high of output capacity at all times it should work reasonably well.
Poke holes in this for me please.
Thank you!
