is it really a y/n (x reader) fic if y/n is a heavily self inserted character?
so i made a poll on tumblr asking readers which pov they’d like to read their stories in or if they prefer oc.
i stressed that my wip has the main character that is a heavy si character. she’s based off of me and my culture so writing her in 2nd pov (you, you are, yours) wouldn’t really be inclusive to the readers and the character wouldn’t really be y/n.
i’m surprised to see that 61% of readers prefer to read in 2nd pov even though a lot of readers can’t relate to y/n unless they treat her as a separate entity.
i’m sleepy so i’m sorry if i’m not making any sense but i guess what i’m trying to say is how to draw the line between an oc character and y/n and why do readers prefer y/n over oc even though y/n doesn’t represent them at all.
