Shoes to pack

My husband and I will be visiting Kauai and Maui for 10 days in March and are struggling to decide what shoes to bring. We plan on stopping at many of the lookouts and drive the road to Hana but are also hoping to do a few hikes like Sleeping Giant, Waimea Canyon, Haleakala Summit, Wai’anapanapa Black Sand Beach, and Waimoku Falls via Pipiwai Trail. We originally thought some Columbia Crestwood hiking sneakers would cover our bases but a lot of friends have recommended water shoes like Tevas. Does anyone have any advice for these activities that wouldn’t result us in overpacking? Thanks so much!
