So as you may have seen on Monday, Megaphone decided to go on a hunger strike, he got given an anti-nausea medication at the vets and a few hours later (after having not eaten for about 18 hours) he wolfed down a whole load of boiled chicken, we thought YAY HE’S OKAY, but the next day he went back to avoiding food, he was still doing well generally, pooing, peeing, drinking, full of energy, so we started syringe feeding him blended up wet food and water so he was still getting food in, he seemed interested in the smell but didn’t want to go and eat the food, but when it was syringed into his mouth he seemed to love it!

We were still concerned something else was going on but today we decided to try something we hadn’t tried yet, for clarity we feed our cats high quality food, with a high meat content, so his usual diet for his whole life has been food with at the very least 70% of fresh meat, usually 90-100%, but we decided to buy a box of Whiskas cat food for him which is like 4% meat and WOW he went crazy for it, he ate almost 2 whole pouches, so basically he is just incredibly fussy, and seems to prefer a much lower quality food than what we’d ideally have him on, obviously right now I’m just so glad he’s eating something, but I’m determined to find something better for him to eat, Whiskas is a fine enough food and gets the job done but a Maine Coon especially needs a much higher meat content food! So let’s hope he will open up his palate a little bit more!!
