Am I not turtley enough for the turtle club?
Hey everyone!
40/M/Midwestern US here.
I think a lot of us are merely looking for like-minded folks to connect with. Though I am a huge fan of long-form correspondence (through Reddit DM or e-mail to start) I am also just seeking a friend. A real one.
It's funny how one day you are 22, coming home from the bar so you can get 3 or 4 hours of sleep before you go to work, and the next day you are 40 and because you ate Chili's skillet queso for dinner, you know you're going to be up half the night with indegestion.
It's easy for us to write off "fun" once we hit a certain age; in part because society has sorta led us in that direction ("you're too old to act like that!") and also because we simply give up.
Not I.
Sure, my joints are stiff...and I have arthritis sneaking up in both hands due to years of writing...but I am still very much a kid. I collect things, I get excited at thunderstorms, and I chuckle when I watch Jim Carrey talk out of his butt in Ace Ventura. What can I say? I'm a complex guy.
I'd love to meet some penpals here who enjoy laughing. Who enjoy sharing those parts of our lives that bring us joy, pain, sadness, and regerts (regrets for you "normies").
I find it kind of sad that I need to deduce my gazillion dollar personality into a box on a Subreddit in order to attract would-be buddies, but I'm here. You're here reading this. So, something good might as well come of it, right?
Here are some things I enjoy, in hopes that they tickle your fancy and you feel compelled to reach out:
- Cinnamon ice cream
- Old 80s' actions movies
- Reading feverishly
- Writing
- Saving products I see on social media to purchase, that I will never actually purchase
- Saving recipes I see on social media, that I will never actually make
- Museums
- Super hot showers while drinking a super cool beer
- Music that moves the inner-most part of your soul and flips it on its head, causing goosebumps and tears to form in your eyes
- Talking
I look forward to hearing from you soon!
