The amount of posts seen where US individuals are showing 'how much they got back from the government' in the form of their tax return just shows how financially incompetent so many people are.

The goal of your tax return should be to get as little as possible back. This means you aren't giving the government a interest free loan on money that already should belong to you.

People that treat it as an extra paycheck are those that are more than likely financially irresponsible and would've blown the money if it was distributed through their normal paycheck.
