Can an Irish N-plate driver drive from Meath to Northern Ireland?

Hi all,

I am an Irish novice driver based in Co. Meath and I’m planning to drive to Newry to visit a friend for his birthday.

Just wanted to check a few things before I go:

• Is there any issue driving into Northern Ireland with N-plates?
• Do any special rules apply to Irish novice drivers up North?

Car is insured for UK/NI.

TIA
