Resolve to Premiere remote editing workflow
I've recently taken on a broadcast documentary project as an editor that involves me using a workflow that I've never used before. I usually do my own assistant editing; creation of proxies, syncing etc. and I do all of this within Premiere, where I also do my editing.
However on this occasion I've been given an already set up Premiere project linked entirely to proxy media. I kind of wish they hadn't done this because they provided me with the hard drive containing all full res media as well as proxies so I could have gone about my business as usual, but the plus side is that I'm being forced to learn what is probably a very useful and industry standard workflow.
From what I can tell syncing and proxy generation was carried out in Resolve before ever being imported into Premiere.
My issue is that there are further shoot days to happen on this project, so I will presumably be given the full res media and when adding the new footage to my existing premiere project, I want to follow the same workflow as the assistant did before handing the project on to me.
Having never properly used resolve before, this will be a challenge for. I want a simple workflow in which I will sync video and audio in resolve, export proxy media retaining essential metadata such as timecode and reel name to be used in conform when it goes to the post house for audio mixing and grading.
I have found some online tutorials but they are creating proxies then syncing in premiere afterwards which does not seem to be what was done with this project.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated, as would any warnings of potential pitfalls for relinking (both in resolve and pro-tools).
I will probably do a basic round-trio test of resolve-premiere-resolve to make sure things are working as they should before commencing with ingestion of the second batch of proxies (created by me) and ploughing on with the edit.
Thanks!!
