Moving from CO to DFW for professional growth. Solo CFP looking for 1-month trial stay + neighborhood advice!
Hey everyone,
I’m (early 40s) seriously weighing a move to the DFW area from Colorado. I’ve visited during the summer, lived in hot/humid climates before, and work remotely, so I know exactly what I'm signing up for with the Texas heat.
Why DFW? I currently live a comfortable, car-dependent suburban life in CO, but I am hungry for professional growth. I’m a CFP with about 7 years of experience, and I own a solo financial planning firm (RIA). The networking scene in Denver feels a bit stale, and DFW seems like a massive, vibrant, growing market to hustle, learn, and build real relationships.
What I'm looking for: I’m planning a 1-month Airbnb stay soon to test the waters before making a permanent move.
- Lifestyle: I don't have kids, so school districts don’t matter. I don't ski or do the mountains. I'm originally from NYC.
- Politically: I don't care.
My questions for you all:
- Where should I rent my 1-month Airbnb? I'd love a walkable pocket (stroll to coffee/food) with relatively easy driving access to the rest of the metroplex for networking events. Is Addison, Uptown or Legacy west the best?
If anyone here has relocated a solo business down there or made a similar move, I’d love to hear how that transition went.
My DMs are completely open—whether you have neighborhood advice, networking tips, or just want to connect! Thanks.
