Bipolar and Binge Eating
Is it just me, or does anyone else experience prolonged episodes of Binge Eating when feeling depressed?
I have struggled with bingeing my whole adult life. It generally gets worse in times of high stress and when there are a lot of different issues piling up and causing me to feel disregulated.
I find that I experience this overwhelming urge to eat until I feel sick. Cookies, chocolate, crisps... Always in secret which I know is a classic symptom of BED.
I believe it's a coping mechanism to numb the anxiety and stress and I have seen a lot of information online about the link between binging and ADHD, but not anything about bipolar.
I feel so frustrated by it and it really impacts my self worth. Bring in my 30s my metabolism isn't what it used to be and not being able to fit into my favorite clothes is making me feel a loss of confidence and identity.
Am I alone in this experience?
