There should be a deleveling option
This game should have a deleveling option. I stopped playing this game in november 2024, and one of the reasons was that they brutally nerfed Lugia and Kyogre. Those were my only lvl 50 legendaries, I had just recently maxed them out, and I didn't have any other mons in the meta to replace them. I didn't have nearby gyms, so my only shot at getting legendaries was remote raiding, which is expensive af if you're aiming to get a good IV and enough candy to max them (it took me around 2-3 years to max both Lugia and Kyogre).
How I imagine this mechanic would be:
- You have to pay stardust to delevel a mon. Maybe the same amount of stardust you used to level it up, but in reverse.
- From levels 2-40, you DON'T get your candies back, just the deleveling. This would be ideal for when you catch a Pokémon in the wild that has a great IV for 1500 or 2500, but it's overleveled, so you can't use it. This way, you could get it down to a level where it's viable por PvP.
-From levels 40-50 you ONLY get your XL candy back. It would have two options, for two different scenarios:
- First scenario: Imagine you go to a lot of Palkia raids, and the best you are able to catch is a 15/14/14 one. You get it to level 45, and months later you suddenly get lucky and you manage to get a hundo in an event. Then, you would be able to use stardust to delevel your lvl 45 15/14/14 down to lvl 40, get your XL candies back, and use them on your hundo instead. (I had something similar happen, I got a hundo lucky Lugia, got it to level 50, and then got a hundo Apex Lugia. I would have deleveled the lucky Lugia and maxed the apex one in a heartbeat if I could).
- Second scenario: You get a mon to level 50, and it gets nerfed. You can use stardust and get back half as many rare XL candies. That would give you a jumpstart for leveling up a replacement for that mon. For example, when my Lugia got nerfed, with this mechanic, I could've deleveled it from lvl 50 to 40, and gotten back 148 rare XL candies, and then used them on a Palkia or whatever. This could require more stardust or something, idk.
That's it. What do you think?
