Protection spell jar for me and my family.

hi! For a little bit of context: im a beginner witch, and ive been in the craft for about 2 months now. For the past 6 months, there's been a series of burglaries in my area and im a bit worried for me and my family. And, well, I dont know how to express this, but theres this little feeling at the back of my neck, something negative. Hence, I want to make protection spell jars for me and my family- my dad, mom and little sister.

Ive seen alot of posts on this topic, with people being equally torn apart between using rosemary and using broken or rusted nails and rose thorns. People have also invoked archangel Micheal (im sorry but that is so cool) and I was wondering- as a beginner witch, could I also do the same? I have an altar but I havent dedicated it to anyone, so i wondering could I invoke a variety of deities or would I have to make altars for each one of them? How would one go about calling upon desired deities? What's the best protection spell i can cast? Ive also been referring to Llywellyns complete book of correspondence, and i do have good options there, but id also really appreciate it if witches who have cast protection spell jars, and who've invoked deities to aide them could give me their opinions too!
