Carepod Maintenance

I just got the Carepod One Plus humidifier (stainless steel version) per some suggestions I saw on this subreddit.

Curious how other people here actually maintain it vs the manual.

It won’t run when it gets to 2in of water in the tank and the manual recommends not letting water stand in the tank for more than 48hrs

Look for what other people do for a long lasting product. Do you use distilled water or did you get a good filter for doing filtered water?

Do you dump the 2in water every morning then refill with fresh distilled water every night?

Maybe I’m naive but it just seems like we’ll be going through an insane amount of distilled water if we dump and refill every day.

TIA for any thoughts/advice. I do want to take care of the product of course but also want to maximize water usage.
