Can anyone recommend historic shanty/choir songs?
Hi all, I’m a swede 🇸🇪 with english/irish 🏴🇮🇪 roots looking for historic shanties or songs with a similar vibe to "Barrett’s Privateers" by The Wellermen. I also really enjoy "55 Days at Peking" by The Brothers Four and "Wellerman" by Nathan Evans.
What I love most is the storytelling aspect of the songs. I’m also interested in different versions or interpretations, sometimes a cover or performance by another artist can give a song a completely new feel, even if they didn’t write it.
Does anyone have recommendations for other tracks and best version (artist/-s) like this?
Thanks in advance for any reply!
