Low Ferritin- Iron Infusion? (Criteria concern/Mental health concern)

Hi all, thank you for what you do! I was wondering if anyone can provide some insight for me.

I (female, age 34) got pretty extensive bloodwork done about a month ago because I have various symptoms that may or may not be related to each other (hair loss, mild fatigue, tinnitus/pounding in the ears, some brain fog, some lightheadedness, brittle nails, bulging veins, pale/sallow skin). I'm vegan, and I thought maybe it was a B12 deficiency, but the bloodwork came back as follows:

-Ferritin: 17 (ref range 15-150)
-Iron: 139 (ref range 30-160)
-UIBC: 229 (ref range 110-370)
-TIBC: 368 (ref range 220-430)
-% Saturation, Iron: 38 (ref range 14-50)

B12 and Folate were both very normal. So was everything else (protein, thyroid, etc etc)

According to this, it's all normal- but I have learned recently that the Ferritin is actually quite low. Apparently it should be at least 50, but 100 is ideal? After looking up low Ferritin symptoms, a lot of them match what I've been going through for a long time.

However, my PCP told me not to worry about it, or just to take some iron pills. And this is where my conflict comes in- I have a history of anorexia, which has caused constipation issues off and on through the years. I also have extreme emetophobia (fear of nausea/vomiting/stomach upset). Oral iron supplementation honestly scares me to the point of debilitating anxiety. I bought some, and it's been sitting on my dresser untouched for a month.

I am also really confused because the Ferritin is "low" but everything else seems quite good. I'm scared iron supplementation (or the wrong kind of supplementation) could raise my other levels and make them too high. Additionally (according to 23AndMe, but otherwise not verified), I carry a gene that makes me more susceptible to hereditary hemochromatosis.

Do you think I should see a hematologist? My insurance does not require referrals, so I can just make an appointment and go whenever I want to. Would they think I was being overdramatic? And- could my mental health history possibly help me qualify for an iron infusion? I wonder if that would be easier for my brain (and body) to handle, but I don't want to go see a hematologist and be laughed out of the office because most of my levels are fine, and I haven't technically tried the oral iron yet- but I don't know if I can mentally get myself to do it. It may seem silly, but even looking at the bottle has made me feel panicky. I've had this my entire life (both anorexia and emetophobia) and simply working it out in therapy isn't really an option- believe me, I wish it was!

Anyway, if anyone has any insight that would be great. I'm confused and kind of overwhelmed, but also my symptoms are can be really debilitating at times. I also would like to continue with my vegan diet (I am allergic to dairy and I was getting accidentally "dairy'ed" through meat- my overall health has drastically improved since going vegan, apart from this- although if a doctor had a convincing case for me to add some form(s) of meat back into my diet, I would certainly consider).

Thank you in advance for being understanding.
