My mom was recently diagnosed with sarcoidosis. It took a ton of tests to finally confirm what it was, and after that came a pile of medications and regular lab work.

She could never make sense of her lab reports. Every time she'd come to me with the paper asking what all the numbers and terms meant. I'd sit there trying to break it down for her in simple language.

For medicine reminders we tried Medisafe but it was 599 a month just to get reminded to take your pills. Felt like too much for what it does.

So I figured I'd build something simple for her as a side project. But once I started I kept going. Got way too invested and just kept making it better.

The medicine reminder system alone almost made me quit. If you've never built one, it sounds easy until you actually do it. Zombie notifications that keep firing for medicines you already deleted. Stale reminders going off after you've already taken the dose. Snooze creating duplicate notifications. Notifications just not firing at all when the app is killed. Doses getting logged to the wrong day if you take something around midnight. Android exact alarm permissions behaving differently across versions. I lost count of how many edge cases I ran into. Every time I fixed one thing, two more would break. But it works now and I'm weirdly proud of that part the most.

The other major hurdle was Google Play. If you're a solo dev building anything health or medical related, good luck. Google is extremely strict about it. You can't even publish under a personal developer account, you need an organization account. Then there's the health app questionnaire, the data safety declarations, making sure your privacy policy covers every little thing they ask for. For a side project that started as something for my mom, jumping through all that felt like overkill. But there's no way around it so you just deal with it.

Here's what the app can do now.

You can take a photo of a lab report and it gives you a simplified version in plain language. Same thing with prescriptions, snap a photo and it pulls out the medicines, dosages and schedule so you don't have to squint at a doctor's handwriting.

The medicine reminder system lets you set your schedule, get notifications, snooze or mark doses as taken right from the notification. It tracks your history and adherence streaks too.

It has a medical records vault where you can organize all your files in folders locally on your phone. Camera scan or import whatever you have.

You can export your saved reports as clean PDFs that are actually presentable enough to hand to a doctor.

All your saved data stays on your device. Nothing gets stored on our servers after processing.

Dark mode is there too.

There's a plus plan for people who need more but the free tier gives you 3 analyses a month and full access to medicine reminders which should be enough for most people.

Built it with Flutter and FastAPI. Should be out on Android in a week or two.
