Why guns?

This post isn't intended to offend or offer a judgement, but I suspect there is a cultural difference, and I am honestly very curious. I grew up in an area where gun ownership was low and it was uncommon to see a gun in the hands of anyone but the police. I currently live in an area where guns ownership is much more common, however, most people living outside of rural areas do not handle their guns on a daily basis.

So many EDC posts here include hand guns.

If you carry a gun, why have you decided that this is an EDC necessity?

Do you consider your gun to be necessary?

Do you use the gun regularly?
