FAA and the VA…

Any pilots have any guidance on FAA Medicals and the VA. I’m being asked to do PTSD assessments as well as other things that might limit a FAA Medical. I genuinely want to get checked out and let the cards fall where they may buuuuutttt I’d hate to never have the option to fly again. I just wondering if it’s worth the risk.

My question is pretty simple, I’d like to know if anyone knows an AME or someone with specific knowledge on disqualifying conditions. This is beyond the regulations - the details matter. I know that PTSD isn’t a disqualifying condition on its own, but it certainly has complex details that I want to know before the assessment.
