truth about competing in hsc (mauritius)

basically i did hsc last year and competed since i wanted to get hsc pro results but with big disappointment i got only Bs in maths chem physics and bio , i did 4 main subjects , and some of my teachers told me tht i could have got As but i ve competed but some are telling me NO competing doesn't affect hsc results, i am thinking to retake the exam and idk whether to compete again or not. Can someone in the field tell me whether it is true tht those who have competed their paper is corrected more strictly
