my experience with suction/ aspiration abortion

USA

i am 21 years old and i had a abortion yesterday. i had been sleeping with this guy that i knew for a while and we were not safe at all. i decided to take a test and it was positive i was 4 weeks when i tested and ended the pregnancy at 7 weeks. he is joining the marines in April and said that he didn’t think it would be fair to have a baby and him not be able to be there ( don’t know if that’s how it works) and i didn’t want to have a baby with someone who did not want it, i waited a while to see what i wanted to do and what i thought would be best i decided that i did not want to do the pills i didn’t want to see any of the process i wanted it to be quick and over. i chose the suction i went to a planned parenthood ( i am in New York) and everything was easy in the beginning. i checked in and did a urine sample and then i went back and answered medical questions and then had an ultrasound they gave me ibuprofen and an antibiotic to prevent any infections, i then sat in a waiting area for about 15 minutes. when i got called back i laid on a bed and it was kind of set up as if you were to go get a pap smear or just a check up at the obgyn. i had the option between a iv sedation or the gas sedation i chose the gas sedation just because my anxiety was through the roof and i felt like i would be more in control. they injected 3 numbing shots into my cervix. first one i did not feel but the other 2 were extremely painful, they feel like period cramps yes but not what anyone would be used to. i will admit that i screamed during those injections and during the abortion, the Dr had a hand held suction device and was just removing the pregnancy that way. i am someone who has a lot of anxiety and i am extremely aware of my body and what is happening i don’t want to scare anyone who is thinking about this procedure its just my experience and everyone is different. it is the next day and i have light brown bleeding and there is what i think is tissue coming out. cramps are there but manageable without medicine, i am sad and this is one of the biggest decisions i have ever made. i kept the ultrasound pictures and all of my tests and all my paperwork as just a little memory.
