Do certain plants serve as a "barrier" for the toxic effects of black walnut trees?

Advice Request - (ohio zone 6)

There are several black walnut trees growing in an easement beyond my backyard. I would like to plant some things such as apple trees that are sensitive to juglone within the danger zone because there's really nowhere else on our property to plant them. I've read that certain plants such as elderberries are not only tolerant of juglone but actually absorb it and serve as sort of a buffer or barrier for plants beyond it? Is this just hearsay or is anyone else experienced this or read any literature on it?
