Overwhelming. Can’t make good choices anymore.
I’ll be saying a lot of stuff that I’m sure I don’t need to explain to you guys but will write so you know what I’m thinking about atm
I was talking to my friend saying the usual ‘omg, I accidentally fell asleep on the sofa AGAIN today and wasted the day. Done no work. Feel terrible now’ (I’m a final year uni student, for context).
He said ‘Because i care, i need to be honest and harsh. But you’re choosing to give in and crawl back into bed or onto the sofa. You’re in control and decided to sleep all day’.
And yes… whilst thats true. It is simultaneously not true.
Because when i get these feelings of tiredness it is OVERWHELMING. It doesn’t feel like a choice.
It is ALL i can think about. I KNOW I have important work and deadlines im missing. But when i feel tired it is the only thing in my mind. I’m thinking ‘I don’t care’ I’m tired’ ‘I need to sleep NOW’. In those moments, i just don’t CARE that I’m behind on work, or I’m missing things, or if I sleep now I won’t have time to do work later etc.
I just don’t know what to do anymore.
Since I started Sertraline a few months back, the negative feelings I get in the morning of ‘I don’t care about getting up, I don’t care about missing things, I don’t care about a ‘good schedule’’ have manage to back off /a bit/ but not entirely. So I’m a bit better at accepting i need to physically get up in the morning. But during the day, after going to my sports practice, i get back and just CRASH. Or going to a one hour lecture. I CRASH. It does not feel like a choice giving into the overwhelming tiredness. It was the same when i was in high school and college (UK). It’s crazy because it doesn’t matter what I’ve done, the tiredness stays. I feel the same after a one hour class in uni and college as i did after an entire 6 hour day in high school. And I’ve changed everything about my routines and lifestyle over the years but the tiredness continues.
It’s fine if no one has any advice… as is to be expected with CHRONIC fatigue.
I’m wondering if anyone has had any success with talking therapies in regards to chronic fatigue. As in, being able to reroute the overwhelming thoughts of I just NEED to sleep right now, and being able to see further than the tiredness at those points and stay awake.
I don’t know. Help
